This is the third part of my five-part series on online genealogical resources at colleges and universities in Central New York. This week I want to discuss the online collection at Utica College, which is located in Utica in Oneida County. Utica College has The Eugene Paul Nassar Ethnic Heritage Studies Center (http://www.utica.edu/academic/institutes/ethnic) with links to information on the following American ethnic groups:
- Lebanese and Syrian (http://www.utica.edu/academic/institutes/ethnic/lebanese.cfm)
These links give you information about the history and size of each ethnic group in Utica and recommended reading.
I found the online Welsh collection to be especially strong. See:
- Essay by Eugene Paul Nassar (with the assistance of Donald Stasiw and Michael Nassar) entitled “Welsh Imprints of Central New York” (http://www.utica.edu/academic/institutes/media/welshimprints.pdf).
- Article entitled “Welsh Abolitionists: Uncovering the Motives for Welsh Involvement in the Anti-Slavery Movement” by Kelly Maharaj (http://www.utica.edu/academic/ssm/history/chapter%206%20maharaj.pdf).
- Links to Welsh resources, see http://utica.libguides.com/content.php?pid=319743&sid=2621930.
Utica College has a large and renowned collection of publications about the Welsh. See http://utica.libguides.com/content.php?pid=319743&sid=2616799.
Thank you, Utica College, for having so much valuable information available online.
